Why Black Lives Matter

Every time I participate in something for the Black Lives Matter movement, somone always says, “ALL LIVES MATTER, NOT JUST BLACK LIVES,” or some other version with the same message. Yes, I do agree that all lives matter. My friend recently brought to light why she supports The Black Lives Matter movement by saying, “Every October people run marathons and wear pink to bring awareness to breast cancer, but raising awareness to this one type of cancer doesn’t make the types of other cancers any less important. So how does bringing attention to a group of people who are continuously discrimated against hurt?”
